Introduction
Thanks to the
work of Joseph Henry Ortiger (as at 1971) and David Shakeshaft (as at 1995)
we have a detailed account of the Ortiger family from the mid 17th century
to the mid 1990s. My particular interest in this extended family is reflected
in the following chart.
There are
a few variants for the family surname – e.g. Ortige, Ortigé, and Ortiger.
For consistency I have used the name Ortiger, which is the surname adopted
by the later generations of this family.
The information for those shown
in the chart above is very sketchy and I start my Ortiger Connections account
with the son of Paul Antoine and Marguerite Picard – Pierre Ortiger (1801-1884).
For each of the following generations
I have provided a list of those who married into the the Ortigers of that
generation, an extract from the family tree, and 'the story' given in the
form of a PDF document.
